What is pH Manipulation Therapy?

Performed in unison with IV therapy, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and low-dose metronomic chemotherapy, pH manipulation therapy  is an important part of integrative cancer therapy (ICT).

The term “pH” itself refers to the acidity of a given solution, with one end of the pH scale representing something entirely basic and the other end representing something entirely acidic. pH manipulation therapy seeks to address cancer cells by manipulating the pH levels of the body.

How Does pH Manipulation Therapy Work?

By nature, most cancers are glycolytic, which means they prefer to feed off sugar for energy rather than oxygen. Many believe that this is why tumors continue to survive and even thrive in low-oxygen environments.

When cancerous cells consume and process sugar, they also produce high quantities of lactic acid. As the cancer grows and becomes more aggressive, lactic acid production increases. When this happens, the cancerous cells seek to expel (reflux) the acid in order to survive.

pH manipulation therapy utilizes a special “cocktail” of oral drugs that inhibit this acid reflux from occurring. When the cancer cells can no longer expel the acid, it can lead to increased cancer cell death. This is the primary function of pH manipulation therapy.
